For script supervisors and their assistants: log takes on set on iPhone, keep track of continuity, produce the day's reports.

1. Your role in Kinelux

The “Script supervisor” access template gives you edit rights on the set (take log, continuity) and read access to the script, the breakdown and the call sheets. Your main tool is the Kinelux iPhone app, Shoot screen.

2. Prepare the day

  • The day before, sync the app: it receives the scenes, the shot list and the call sheets.
  • The day's scenes come from the call sheet; “Today's scenes” lets you choose others. The choice is shared with the other phones on set.
  • Slate numbering (European 12/3 or American 12C) is set for the whole project.

3. Log takes (on-set mode)

  • “On-set mode” opens the “Take” screen on the first shot to film: five large buttons for the mark (circled, good, no good, false start, technical), the qualifiers (good sound, good picture, MOS…) and the note.
  • The timecode comes from the phone's clock, or from an LTC generator plugged into the mic input (setting in Account → Set).
  • Dictated notes: the voice recording is kept with the take and sent to the project.
  • Digital slate: shows scene, shot and take in large type.
  • Everything works offline; sending happens when the network comes back. Two phones can log the same shot: the takes are merged.

4. Continuity

  • Take continuity photos from the app, linked to the scene, the shot, the take and the characters.
  • On the website, the call sheet's “Continuity” view sorts them by character, scene or day, with a side-by-side comparison.

5. Actual times

Shoot screen → “Actual times”: “Now” at crew call, at the start and end of meals, at wrap. A time can be corrected or cleared. They replace the call sheet times in the production report, with the overrun.

6. Reports

  • Script supervisor report (PDF, in the app or from the call sheet): the day's shots and takes.
  • Production report: calculated from your takes — pages shot, screen time, setups, completed or partial scenes.
  • Editorial, ALE, CSV: editor's report and exports for Avid (ALE) or Silverstack / spreadsheet (CSV), at the project's frame rate.
  • Details: Call sheet guide.

7. On the shooting schedule

Your takes move the schedule forward: strips “Shot”, “Started n/m”, “To reschedule”. A strip's drawer gives the screen time shot (selected takes) against the page-based timing estimate.

8. Frequently asked questions

  • “Shoot log kept on the phone”? Your role is read-only on the set: ask the production for edit rights.
  • The timecode stays on the clock? Check the LTC cable and the “Take timecode” setting.
