Storyboard : the tutorial

Storyboard draws every shot of the shot list with the project's faces and sets, in the chosen style. Here is the walkthrough, step by step.

1. Open a scene

Prep menu → Storyboard. On the left, "Script scenes": a dot marks scenes that already have a shot list. Click a scene: its shots become the storyboard frames.

2. 1. Assets & Styles

Before drawing: tick the scene's characters and sets; their reference sheets guide the AI so faces and places stay consistent from frame to frame. Visual style (sketch, watercolour, photoreal…) and format (16:9, 2.39, 9:16) are chosen at the top.

3. Set up a shot

Tab "2. Storyboard (Frames)": click a frame. Shot size, camera movement, technical elements to draw (arrows, markers) and the description guide the composition; the final prompt can be read and edited.

4. Visual references

Attach a composition image (upload, URL or a 3D previz from Lighting Diagram): it fixes framing and placement. Ticked references go into the prompt; untick the ones that do not belong.

5. Generate 3 variations

"Generate 3 variations": three frames in the project style, billed to your fal key. Pick one, regenerate from the form, crop, or upload your own drawing.

6. Presentation mode

Presentation mode plays the frames full screen for a team read-through; a frame can be hidden from the presentation without being deleted.

7. Export

"PDF export": A4 landscape boards, six frames per page, project / scene / page header. "Edit": EDL, FCPXML or OTIO with frames as placeholder media, for Premiere, Resolve or Final Cut. Everything saves automatically.
